Paper with a past

 Hello there everyone! Welcome to the blog of "The Pulp studio". We are a paper recycling brand that transforms your used paper (books, letters, cards etc)into brand new handmade paper that is made one hundred percent organically by us! But how did this whole idea come into existence?! Let me tell you how... 


After my 12th boards I had many books and notes left with me. What I could lend others; I did, despite that I had a lot of waste taking up quite the space in my cupboard. One final day my father decided to clean it up and started tearing it. This when I thought, "I wish there was a way to reuse all of this paper. It cant simply end up in a landfill."

And that is how we at paper studio came up with the idea of recycling paper! It was perfect. No trees to be cut, not much heavy investment and we could start right at home! This we began the ever continuing process of trial and error; determined to bring to life our vision handmade paper made without any harsh chemicals being added. We saw many YouTube tutorials, spoke to local artisans and tried experimenting in the techniques and measurements. After being patient for weeks at end we have finally perfected the method of transforming paper rags to riches. 

Through our social media presence we aim to create awareness now about the existence of our brand and the unique proposition we bring to the table which is an absolute win-win situation for any customer of ours! We have high hopes and great aspirations for the journey of The Pulp Studio and we are striving every day to fulfill it!

The process of going from trash to treasure

 We at The Pulp Studio create handmade paper with love and patience. These are the steps we follow to achieve good quality in our products! Step 1: Collection and Preparation of the Paper Old paper or is gathered and sorted by color and texture. Then the paper is cut/tore into small pieces to increase the surface area and soak the paper pieces in water for several hours or overnight. This will break down the fibers. Step 2: Blend the Paper After the 1st step we drain the soaked paper and add it to a blender or food processor. Blending the paper until it's broken down into a pulp, adding water as needed to achieve a smooth consistency. Step 3: Mix the Pulp We transfer the pulp to a mixing bowl and add water to achieve the desired consistency then stir the pulp well to ensure it's evenly mixed.
